What might we not know about cookware, right? They’re pots and pans we use every day… That’s where we go wrong. Sometimes the most important things are right in front of us and we still choose to ignore their effect on our lives — cookware is one of those things. In order to cook healthy food, choosing the right cookware is as important as choosing the right ingredients. The current scenario in the market makes it difficult to make the right choice as the manufacturers are more profit-centric than ever and they sell whatever can earn them maximum profit.
You may be choosing the right ingredients that are full of nutrients and are healthy, but by choosing the wrong cookware, you are not only depleting those nutrients but are also making your food toxic. Research shows that all metals are reactive (this is their innate property) and food contains nutrients that are in the form of oxygen, hydrogen halogens, acids, and bases. They are reactive to metal ions that conventional metal/ceramic cookware leach while cooking. Don’t believe me, do a simple alkaline baking soda test at home, this is an eye-opener:
Alkaline Baking Soda Test for Checking Toxicity of Cookware
- Boil 2-3 cups of water in any pot, when it starts boiling add 2 tsp of baking soda, boil for 5 more mins. Turn stove off.
- Wait till cool enough to taste then taste the water (take a sip). If you taste metals, that’s what you’re eating! If water has a rubber/paint taste it’s the chemicals from enamel/glaze.
As a control, stir 2 tsp of baking soda to 1 glass of water and take a sip – you will taste just the baking soda. Truly non-toxic cookware would leach nothing into food.
If your cookware fails this test, it simply means it is leaching toxins into your food. These toxins are ingested with food and are accumulated in tissues and organs over time, where they become the foundation for serious health problems. Also, the immune system that is responsible for fighting diseases is compromised. In short, all important functions of the body are badly affected which results in those minor illnesses to serious health problems that seem to appear out of nowhere.
If you are concerned about the health of your family, it’s high time that you start looking for truly healthy cookware that doesn’t mess with the health of your food while cooking. When I was in this situation and looking for an actually healthy cookware, I stumbled upon this useful article that discusses the need for truly non-toxic cooking pots and pans, thankfully and it changed my way of cooking for good.
I came to know of this 100% safe and healthy material that is naturally non-reactive and non-toxic – pure-clay. When I did baking soda test on a pure-clay pot, I experienced for myself the difference. Unlike conventional cookware, they are free from metals and chemicals as they are not coated with toxic glazes or enamels. They are truly natural even after going through the manufacturing process.
Learn about them today and try some to know what a blessing they are for your health!
